Earlier today, Google has made available Android 7.1.1 factory images and OTA files for Pixel and Nexus devices with the OTA roll out starting soon. Now, the company has started rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for Pixel and Pixel XL devices and the full lineup of supported Nexus devices. The OTA roll out in a incremental release and is expected to reach all eligible devices over the next several weeks.

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat over-the-air (OTA) update will reach to Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C, and General Mobile 4G (Android One) devices. Pixel and Pixel XL devices will also get the over-the-air (OTA) update, the Android 7.1.1 features already available on Pixel and Pixel XL devices, but the new OTA upgrade brings a handful of new features for consumers as well as optimizations and bug fixes on top of the base Android 7.1 platform.

Commenting on this, Google said,

“Android 7.1.1 is an incremental release that builds on the features already available on Pixel and Pixel XL devices, adding a handful of new features for consumers as well as optimizations and bug fixes on top of the base Android 7.1 platform (API level 25).”

The Android 7.1.1 update brings some handful of features and improvements, such as:
  • Options to send GIFs directly from your keyboard on supported apps such as Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts
  • App shortcuts that can be launched directly from home screen, circular launcher icons
  • Image keyboard support, now send images and other rich content directly to a text editor in an app
  • Improved VR
  • New professional Emoji, emoji that reflect the pivotal roles women play in the world, female welders and men getting haircuts for Nexus devices and more

We hope the latest Android 7.1.1 OTA rollout will start rolling out in coming weeks. Factory image and OTA file for Nexus 6 will also be made available very soon.

It’s better to wait for the OTA software upgrade to reach your respected devices. But if you’re impatient and know what to do with factory images and OTA files, you can download the Android 7.1.1 Nougat factory images and OTA files for your device.
