OnePlus finally gets some love from the CyanogenMod team. The CyanogenMod 13 nightly build is now officially available for OnePlus 3 based on Android 6.0.1 – Nightlies, and is now up for you to download. Nightly build has most things working, but with a few bugs here and there because the source codes haven’t been released from OnePlus.
Here are some issues with CM13 nightly for OnePlus 3
- Due to the lack of a binary release from OnePlus, Dash Charge is not supported in CyanogenMod 13 and the OnePlus 3 won’t charge fast (will be fixed sooner, as the OnePlus said it will release the binaries needed in order to enable Dash Charge in the ROM)
- OnePlus 3 camera’s quality takes a hit when you use CM13. This will probably be a permanent issue, unless OnePlus releases their stock camera app to the public. Cyanogen is also in the process of releasing its camera app on the Play Store which would help this issue.
If these issues don’t really bother you, you can download & install the nightly build on your OnepPlus 3 via CyanogenMod’s official download page.
CyanogenMod 13 is an alternative custom OS firmware that can replace the factory firmware on your smartphone. If you’d like to install the OS, you’ll need to have your bootloader unlocked (this can be very difficult in some cases and is pretty much different for all devices, this will wipe the device clean, so make sure to backup any important data), and you need to have flashed an alternative recovery in order to install. Flashing ROMs refers to overwriting the old version of Android that is installed and replacing it with a third party alternative, like CyanogenMod. Make sure you read everything very carefully as there is always risk of bricking your phone.
