Gionee A1, A1 Plus Selfie-Focused, Big Battery Phones Launched at MWC 2017

Gionee has launched the A1 and A1 Plus smartphones at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event in Barcelona. These are the first smartphones in Gionee’s new A-Series of smartphones. The main highlight of both smartphones, these are targeted at selfie enthusiasts with the former sporting a 16-megapixel in A1 and a 20-megapixel front-facing camera in A1 Plus. Both the smartphones come with a fingerprint sensor which is placed at the back below the camera lens and is said to unlock within 0.2 seconds.

Gionee A1 (Black)

Both A1 and A1 Plus pack Full-HD displays, with a 5.5-inch screen and the larger at 6-inches respectively. Inside, the Gionee A1 is powered by an Helio P10 octa-core processor (which was announced in 2015) while the A1 Plus houses a more modern 64-bit Helio P25 octa-core processor @2.5 GHz with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. Both devices are running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with Gionee’s Amigo 4.0 UI on top.The A1 and A1 Plus arrive with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage and support for microSD cards.

The smaller handset has a 4010 mAh battery while the A1 Plus houses 4,550 mAh battery with fast charging support. Both smartphones have dual SIM support while connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS.

Price And Availability

The Gionee A1 will go on sale for EUR 349 (~$370) from early March 2017 while the A1 Plus starts at EUR 499 (~$530), but will be available from April 2017. The company has not revealed any information about the availability details in US.
