Google’s wireless carrier Project Fi is a simple and easy wireless service to get seamless access to three 4G LTE networks. It works using the networks of Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular and it automatically connects you to the best available signal, whether that’s Wi-Fi or one of the three 4G LTE partner networks to give you the best possible coverage and data speeds. Google’s Project Fi was launched in year 2015. Until now the Google Fi has been available as a single user plan, but today Google has introduced the group plan for the Project Fi.
Google Project Fi Group Plan
Project Fi’s group plan allows up to six people to share on a single plan. Group Plans let you easily add up to five people to your plan at $15 per month each. That’s a $5 discount from the Fi Basics for $20 per month for a Project Fi account. Just like Project Fi’s individual plans, data is the same $10 per GB rate for everyone and Google will credit back the unused data in in dollars and cents. There’s just one bill for everyone on group plan, as well as no contracts are required for group plans. You can easily add new member or drop them at any time. The group’s owner will receive and pay a single bill each month that includes each member’s Fi Basics and data usage.
Group Data Management
The Google Fi app makes it easier to to pay your bill, track data usage, and manage settings for everyone, all from one place. It also let the managers of the group and the members in control of their data. The account manager can handle all of the basic functions like adding or removing members and monitoring data usage. The manager can also set data limits per user. Members can also easily view their own data usage from the Project Fi app. Both members and managers can set up data notifications and monthly allowances. Managers can also pause a user’s data service if if it’s going overboard.
How to invite a new user to Project Fi’s Group plan or accept an invitation
An individual user of Project Fi’s basic plan will be able to start a group plan and invite people on the Project Fi website under Account>Manage Plan>Add a Person. User will be notified by email when individuals accept your invitation to join your group. If you’re new to Project Fi, you can start a group plan when you sign up.
If you are invited by someone to join their Google Fi Group Plan, you’ll get an email with information on how to accept. It’s also worth to mention here if your device is financed, you’ll have to pay off any outstanding amount before you can join a group plan. And also don’t worry about your unused data if you are already a Project Fi individual subscriber before joining a group plan, you’ll get a refund for it.
With the launch of Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Google has discontinued the Nexus 6P and 5X from its main online store. But as a Project Fi subscriber plan, you can still buy the Nexus 5X and 6P through the Project Fi site. Google is also offering $100 off the Nexus 6P, and $150 off the Nexus 5X, when you buy and activate through Project Fi.
