Moto G5 and G5 Plus announced at MWC 2017: Price, specifications, release date

Motorola has launched the Moto G5 and G5 Plus in Barcelona at MWC 2017. Both devices have got a much-needed design refresh, with a metal chassis and a circular camera frame at the back. The Moto G5 features a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display and powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 processor while Motorola G5 Plus features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. It is powered by the 2GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor.

The Moto G5 offers 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, with the option to expand further via microSD card slot(up to 128GB) while the Motorola G5 Plus offers RAM from the range of 3GB to 4GB. It offers 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, with the option to expand further via a microSD card slot (up to 128GB).

The G5’s camera is a 13-megapixel f/2.0 system with phase detect autofocus, and the G5 Plus ups that slightly with a 12-megapixel f/1.7 camera with dual-focus pixels. It can record 4K video, while the G5 is limited to Full HD. Both have a 5MP selfie cam up front.

Also, the duo runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and more. The Moto G5 smartphone packs a 2800mAh battery with 10W rapid charging and has a removable back cover whereas the Moto G5 Plus smartphone comes with a 3000mAh battery with 15W Turbo charging that promises up to 6 hours of battery life in 15 minutes of charging.

The global price for the Moto G5 starts at 199 Euros (US$ 210 / Rs. 14005 approx.) for 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant while the Moto G5 Plus starts at US$ 229 (Rs. 15260 approx.) for the 2GB RAM/32GB storage and 279 Euros (US$ 294 / Rs. 19630 approx.) for 3GB RAM/32GB storage. Also, a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant will be available in selected markets. The market availability will be in the coming weeks in various countries across Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America. India being among the first countries where the two phones will be sold. It is expected that in India the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus will launch in March.
