Samsung launches Galaxy Xcover 4 rugged smartphone for extreme outdoor conditions

Samsung has officially unveiled it’s new outdoor smartphone from the Xcover family – Galaxy Xcover 4. Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is the latest rugged smartphone and is the successor of Galaxy Xcover 3. Samsung describes it to have a smarter core inside a hard shell. It is designed for harsh environment conditions. 

The Galaxy Xcover 4 is protected against the water (a depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes) and dust according to IP68 rating. It is certified according to the US military standard MIL-STD 810G for extreme temperatures (low or high Temperatures), mechanical shocks (withstand a fall of up to 1.2 meters) and vibrations, intense sunshine or salt water mist. Adding to all these protections, with the Galaxy Xcover 4 you can also take calls, write messages or use apps on the display with gloves.

Coming to the other specifications, Galaxy Xcover 4 features a 4.99-inch TFT 720×1280 pixel resolution display. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal memory with support for microSD card up to 256GB. On the Camera specifications, Galaxy Xcover 4 packs a 13MP main shooter and a 5MP selfie one. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and is powered by a 2,800 mAh battery. Featuring all these protection guards, it is weighing just 172 grams, which is not that much with all it’s protective hard shell.

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is priced at 259 Euros (approx. US$ 270 / Rs. 18,200) and will be available from April in European markets.
