Google has announced the Android 7.1.2 – the next maintenance release for Android Nougat. The Android 7.1.2 first public beta update is now rolling out to eligible devices including Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices. The Nexus 6P is also eligible, and it will get it soon. The Android 7.1.2 update brings some bugfixes and optimizations along with some other improvements.

Google says on it’s official post:

Android 7.1.2 is an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements, so it includes a number of bugfixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users.

The final release of the Android 7.1.2 update is expected to release to eligible devices in a couple of months. Google confirms that it will be available for for Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices. So this could be the end of any Android version update for Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 as they will not get the update, and the Android 7.1.1 will be final. Google has already confirmed that there are no guaranteed Android updates for these devices after October 2016. Also there is no guaranteed Android updates for Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P after 2017.

How to get Android 7.1.2 beta update?

Android 7.1.2 is an incremental maintenance release ans public beta update is currently available for Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus Player and Pixel C. Public beta update is available to those eligible devices that are enrolled in the Android Beta Program. If you have an eligible device that’s already enrolled, you’re all set — your device will get the public beta update in the next few days and no action is needed on your part.If don’t follow the below steps to get it-

If you like to try the public beta for Android 7.1.2 on any of these eligible devices, visit android.com/beta and opt-in your eligible Android phone or tablet — you’ll soon receive receive an OTA notification to download and install the beta build, no fastboot or adb commands necessary. As always, you can also download and flash this update manually.

The final release of the Android 7.1.2 update is expected to release to eligible devices in a couple of months.
