While everyone is expecting a mid September release date for Apple’s next iPhone, Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) of VentureBeat tipped some more precise information regarding this. According to him, the iPhone 7 (or just the new iPhone 2016) will be released during the week of September 12. Usually reliable leakster Evan Blass has a stellar reputation for leaking information regarding mobile devices.
iPhone 2016 release: week of September 12th.

Evan Blass isn’t using the iPhone 7 name when mentioning the upcoming iPhone, as it is said that the 2016 iPhone models won’t be significantly different from the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. It might be possible that Apple have some plans with a much bigger update for the 10th anniversary — next year. Apple might be planning with something like iPhone 6x (where x could mean almost anything), as major changes are seemingly saved for the 2017 iPhones – at it’s 10th anniversary – which should come with a completely overhauled design, and important new features.

If we go with the rumors, we will see three iPhone models this year – a regular iPhone 7, a bigger Plus variant, and a dual camera-toting iPhone Pro or only be two models, suggesting either a Plus or Pro.
