Facebook starts testing offline video feature on Android

The biggest social media website Facebook has started rolling out the feature of Offline Video on Android. This will be rolled out to users via Facebook version 85 and 86 (beta) in Android.  It is very similar to YouTube offline video feature, in which you can save the video and can watch it as many times as you want, when you are offline.

In Facebook, you need to tap on ‘Save Video’ option from the drop down menu of a particular post and that would be listed to your ‘Saved’ section of your profile. You can watch save videos offline as many times as you want. Facebook will not allow to users to download the videos as they want to keep it on social media server.

As per the current feature of saving videos and posts, you can save the articles and video links but you cannot watch the videos when you are offline. Reportedly, additional feature of Offline Video would be -Video publisher can make the video ‘available for offline download’ or vice versa. Also only the original videos posted on personal Facebook profiles and pages will get the offline video download option.

The above update comes just weeks after the company CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the firm is working on bringing new features to Facebook Live at the recent Live Q&A session.
