Google releases Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for Nexus 6, factory images and OTA files go live

Google officially released the final version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat to the Pixel phones and supported Nexus devices but the Nexus 6 didn’t make to the party. So there were speculations out there that the company has quietly dropped support for the phone released in 2014. But in previous month, Google confirmed that Nexus 6 will get the Android 7.1.1 update in early January 2017 and stated the reason behind the delay. Now here we’re, Google has made available the Android 7.1.1 factory images and OTA files for Nexus 6 on Google’s Android developer site. The official over-the-air rollout will start soon.

It may take some days to reach to all Nexus 6 owners depending on the regions. Also this could be the last OS update to the Nexus 6 devices as the Google has already confirmed that no guaranteed Android version update to the Nexus devices after a certain period.
