Android 7.0 Nougat Beta starts rolling out to Sony Xperia X Performance

Yesterday, Sony Mobile has started sending out emails to select Xperia X Performance owners confirming that an OTA update to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat will roll out to their devices in the next 48 hours. And today, the Android 7.0 Nougat Beta is now rolling to the some lucky Xperia X Performance owners who had successfully signed up for Android Nougat Xperia Beta program.

Currently the Xperia Nougat beta update is only open for the single SIM variant (F8131) of the Xperia X Performance across select regions with firmware build number 39.2.A.0.248. The latest Nougat firmware update also brings the 1 October Google Security patches. The Android 7.0 Nougat update brings features such as split-screen, new notification panel and more. In addition to this, some Sony exclusive changes comes with it – such as manual shutter speed to the camera app and ISO controls at the full 23MP resolution. The update also includes the latest STAMINA mode.

Sony has released last month the list of eligible Xperia phones that will receive the Android Nougat update. Also, a time schedule for the Nougat roll out to it’s devices has surfaced, which revealed that the Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ will be the first devices to receive the Android Nougat update. And now the Android Nougat update is rolling out to select Xperia X Performance devices.

The Nougat beta update is currently available only for few lucky owners who have pre-registered. It looks like the complete OTA update rollout is not far away and Sony might officially released the same soon.
